COVID-19 Updates

25th March 2020

With the Government announcement that New Zealand is now at Alert Level 4 in our nationwide battle against the spread of Covid-19 (Coronavirus), Macaulay Motors in Invercargill and Queenstown will close from 5.30pm, Wednesday 25 March 2020 for four weeks.  Our anticipated opening date is 23th April, or earlier should the Government shorten the lock down period.

We treat our responsibilities very seriously in ensuring we are doing the best we can for the safety of our staff and community and as such we are following the request by the Government to close.  We will however continue to support Essential Business by providing a call out service for emergency breakdowns or repairs (including the supply of parts) for those people in those services that need their vehicles to continue their important work in the community.  The most obvious will be people and businesses in the following sectors:

  • Health care
  • Emergency services
  • Transport industry (e.g. passenger vehicles/freight shipping etc)
  • Animal welfare
  • Farming
  • Financial and Social Services
  • Other businesses that support the Essential Services sector e.g. Plumbers, Electricians, Power and Water Companies etc

There is a comprehensive list provided by the Government to guide us on what is an Essential Service: https://covid19.govt.nz/government-actions/covid-19-alert-level/#Essential-businesses

The numbers for people and businesses in Essential Services to call for Emergency Breakdowns are:
Invercargill

  • John:   021 335 070
  • Steve: 027 431 9428

Queenstown

  • Simon 027 432 2303

In the event of you needing to contact us, please be patient and we ask that you don’t be offended if we ask for information to understand if your request qualifies under the emergency call out criteria as determined by the Government. We will also check if you qualify as an Essential Business to ensure by attending the call out we can keep our staff safe and reduce the risk of spreading the virus.  Any work that does not qualify under essential businesses will be deferred until we reopen.  Please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for any updates to our lock down status.

Stay safe, and let’s beat this together as a community.
